The 12 deities (Adityas) are believed to symbolise the 12 aspects of the sun, corresponding to the 12 lunation in a solar year. They are the offsprings of the goddess of infinity, consciousness, pass and future Aditi. In the Vedic philosophy, Adityas are responsible for the functioning of the whole universe and are given lordship over all celestial bodies.
