In the Vedic writings, Kala means time. However, as time personified, the deity Kala is sometimes referred to as the god of Death or the even Yama, the god of Dharma and Underworld. Bhagavata Purana states that all creation is illusory; therefore time is too. No matter if time is linear or circular, the cycles of time we witness allow us to exist because time itself is an unmanifest aspect of God that will exist even at the end of our universe and at the end of the lifespan of Brahma the Creator.
