Mayura or the peacock was for the Vedic Sages the symbol of the conveyance of the holy trinity, the Trimurti. Its feathers were considered sacred and used to dust the scriptures. Therefore, for us, contemporary humans, the symbol of the Mayura is a sacred totem and it is believed to ward the evil.
