In spirituality, solstice is the day when one can transcend all their limitations by clearing the way to new beginnings. The root of the word solstice comes from the Latin "sol" meaning "sun" and "sistere" meaning "to stand still". Therefore if in astrology solstice refers to the sun achieving the northeast or the southeast point in relation to the celestial equator, in spirituality it alludes to honouring the light source we all came from. It is a time of introspection from which enlightenment is arising.
