In Egyptian mythology, the gods were born under a cosmic acacia tree. In the Osirian myth, in death, Osiris himself became one with the acacia tree as the lord of underworld. In the Bible (Exodus 25:10-22), Moses was instructed to use acid trees for building the Ark of the Covenant. The Ark held the stone tablets (the 10 Commandments), an almond branch (the rod of Aaron) and a pot of date honey (Manna). King Solomon's Temple was built to house the Ark of the Covenant (1 Kings and 2 Chronicles). The Ark disappeared once the temple was destroyed by the Babylonians in 587 BC, and with it the Ark of the Covenant too, often referred to as the Holy Grail.
